Geometry Honors

Precalculus

Geometry Fundamentals

This is a one year elective course that provides supplementary help to students enrolled in Geometry. It is intended to increase mathematical fluency in all concepts covered in Geometry by providing extra time with each concept with teacher help and assistance. Instructional practices incorporate integration of diversity awareness including appreciation of all cultures and their important contributions to society. This course fulfills and elective credit toward high school graduation.

Geometry Honors

This course is for students taking advance courses in mathematics. It presents plane geometry as a sustained system of deductive reasoning and extension to related concepts of solid geometry with emphasis placed on basic facts about lines, planes, solids, and spherical figures. Introduction of coordinate geometry, space geometry, and area theory is provided. It stresses deductive reasoning through formal proofs and other mechanisms. A ruler, protractor, scientific calculator, and compass are recommended.

Prerequisite: Grades 9 and 10; completion of Algebra 1; teacher recommendation

PreCalculus AB

This rigorous one-year course is designed for the motivated student with a strong background in advanced algebra and will prepare the student for AP Calculus AB. In addition to reviewing topics from trigonometry, this course includes problem-solving techniques using analytic geometry, vectors, matrices, relations and functions and their graphs, probability and statistics, and the introductory concepts of calculus. Instructional practices incorporate integration of diversity awareness including appreciation of all cultures and their important contributions to our society. The use of technology, including calculators and computer software, is an integral part of this course. This course fulfills one of the mathematics credits required for high school graduation.

Prerequisite: Grades 11 and 12; completion of Algebra 2 with an “A” or Algebra 2 Honors with “C” or better; and teacher recommendation

The math classes I teach are very demanding courses. I have high expectations and I do all that I can to help students achieve those expectations. Students can keep track of any course work through the posted assignments listed on Google Classroom. Resources and other helpful tools will also be linked in Google Classroom. Students will be expected to access and utilize Google Classroom weekly.
