Algebra 2 Honors

Geometry

This course is a logical development of the deductive system of reasoning with point sets in a plane. Emphasis is on the development of logic and algebraic applications to geometry. Coordinate and transformation approaches are introduced. Real-world applications and computer-based explorations of 2-D and 3-D figures are explored. Formal proofs are introduced, and deductive arguments expressed orally and in written paragraph from are developed. A ruler, protractor, scientific calculator, and compass are recommended.

Prerequisite: Grades 9 through 12; successful completion of Algebra 1

Algebra 2 Fundamentals

This is a one year elective course that provides supplementary help to students enrolled in Algebra 2. It is intended to increase mathematical fluency in all concepts covered in Algebra 2 by providing extra time with each concept with teacher help and assistance. Instructional practices incorporate integration of diversity awareness including appreciation of all cultures and their important contributions to society. This course fulfills and elective credit toward high school graduation.

Algebra 2 Honors

This one-year course provides students with a rigorous study of functions and statistics, including advanced topics. This course is designated as honors level by the accelerated instructional pacing and depth of content. It incorporates problem solving, reasoning, modeling, and effective communication skills through the study of polynomial, rational, radical, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions; the design of statistical studies; and statistical inference. Instructional practices incorporate integration of diversity awareness including appreciation of all cultures and their important contributions to society. The use of mathematical tools and technology, including calculators and computer software, is an integral part of this course. This course will fulfill one of the mathematics credits required for high school graduation.

Prerequisite: Grades 10 and 11; completion of Algebra 1 and Geometry Honors with teacher recommendation; course challenges are discouraged

The math classes I teach are very demanding courses. I have high expectations and I do all that I can to help students achieve those expectations. Students can keep track of any course work through the posted assignments listed on Google Classroom. Resources and other helpful tools will also be linked in Google Classroom. Students will be expected to access and utilize Google Classroom weekly.
