PreCalculus

This rigorous one-year course is designed for the motivated student with a strong background in advanced algebra and will prepare the student for AP Calculus AB. In addition to reviewing topics from trigonometry, this course includes problem-solving techniques using analytic geometry, vectors, matrices, relations and functions and their graphs, probability and statistics, and the introductory concepts of calculus. Instructional practices incorporate integration of diversity awareness including appreciation of all cultures and their important contributions to our society. The use of technology, including calculators and computer software, is an integral part of this course. This course fulfills one of the mathematics credits required for high school graduation.

Prerequisite: Grades 11 and 12; completion of Algebra 2 with an “A” or Algebra 2 Honors with “C” or better; and teacher recommendation

Calculus AP (AB Level)

This one-year course is designed with an emphasis on meeting the requirements of the College Board Advanced Placement AP Calculus AB examination. This college-level curriculum is primarily concerned with developing the students’ understanding of the concepts of calculus and providing experience with its methods and applications. Before studying calculus, all students should complete four years of secondary mathematics designed for college-bound students: courses in which they study algebra, geometry, trigonometry, analytic geometry and elementary functions. Instructional practices incorporate integration of diversity awareness including appreciation of all cultures and their important contributions to society. The use of technology, including graphing calculators and computer software, is an integral part of this course. This course fulfills one of the mathematics credits required for high school graduation.

Prerequisite: Grade 11 and 12; completion of Pre-calculus Honors with a “B” or better and with teacher recommendation

Calculus AP (BC Level)

This college-level course is for students who have a thorough knowledge of pre-calculus and introductory calculus. Students should be well versed in the topics of elementary functions, trigonometry, analytic geometry, linear algebra, limits and basic differentiation and integration. This course includes a brief review of differentiation and integration, applications of differentiation and integration, sequence and series, and vectors. A graphing calculator is required. It is expected students will take the AP exam in May. See your school counselor if you have a financial hardship

Prerequisite: Grade 12; completion of Pre-Calculus BC with a “B” or better.

The math classes I teach are very demanding courses. I have high expectations and I do all that I can to help students achieve those expectations. Students can keep track of any course work through the posted assignments listed on Google Classroom. Resources and other helpful tools will also be linked in Google Classroom. Students will be expected to access and utilize Google Classroom weekly.
